New Signing – Kash makes a splash!

Edinburgh City is pleased to announce the signing of Kashif Irshad from Edinburgh University.

Kash “The Money Man” Irshad joins after a breakthrough season at Edinburgh University where he managed to cement his place as a starter for the 1st team and had a solid debit at the BUCS National Championships.

At his unveiling, Kash was asked his thoughts on signing with The Citizens:

“After my first two years of korfball with Edinburgh University I am excited for the chance to play alongside some former rivals and learn more from the ‘Yoda of korfball’” (Kash refers to City’s head coach Dan Pratt in endearing terms after being coached by him last season at the University side).

Kash joins a number of recent Edinburgh University players joining City in the past few seasons and he had this to add on his recent transfer:

“City seemed like the perfect club for me as I know a couple of the players already and I am keen to carry on my korfball development at a great club like Edinburgh City. I want to help City challenge on all fronts and finally a warning to my past team mates… if you thought I was difficult to play with, I’m much worse to play against!”

The club has a number of targets in the summer transfer window and Club President Katrina Caldwell has been quoted in the media saying “Whilst we are pleased to have signed a young and hungry player already this summer, we are looking to tie up a few more deals before the season gets under way.”

Kash will join up with the rest of the Edinburgh City squad next month when they begin their preseason training schedule.
